Maldivian, national carrier of Maldives, inaugurated its Dhaka city office and announced resumption of direct flights between Malé and Dhaka from March 12, strengthening air connectivity between the two South Asian nations.

On Monday morning, City office at Taj Marriott’s 2nd floor, 25 Gulshan Avenue, was inaugurated by Maldivian Managing Director Ibrahim Iyas. Director of Ground Operations Ahmed Ibrahim and General Manager Commercial (International) Mohamed Saffah attended alongside Ahmed Yusuf Walid, President and CEO of Galaxy Bangladesh Group, the airline’s General Sales Agent (GSA) in Bangladesh.

Ibrahim Iyas said route resumption reflects commitment to serving large Bangladeshi expatriate community in Maldives. “Dhaka is a key market for Maldivian. This reopening underscores our dedication to providing reliable, affordable and convenient travel options for Bangladeshi workers and Maldivian travellers alike”, he said.

Twice-weekly service will operate on Sundays and Thursdays with round-trip fares starting from USD 399 (approximately TK 47,880). Flights arrive in Dhaka during early morning hours, enabling seamless connections to onward international destinations.

Maldivian delegation paid courtesy calls on CAAB Chairman and Biman Bangladesh Airlines Managing Director and CEO. Formal signing ceremony between Maldivian Airlines and Galaxy Aviation Services Ltd is scheduled for this evening at a capital’s hotel.

Launch coincides with conclusion of Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, offering convenient travel options. Passengers receive 30kg checked baggage allowance with complimentary onboard meals. Bookings are open through Maldivian’s website, mobile application and call center at 1671.

Airline announced music festival titled ‘Dhaka, We Heard You’ scheduled for next Friday for Bangladeshi community in Maldives.

Currently, Maldivian operates fleet of 26 aircraft including one Airbus A330, one Airbus A320, five ATR aircraft, eight Dash 8 aircraft and eleven Dash 6 Twin Otter planes serving regional destinations.
