Budget signals aviation, tourism transformation: Millat

State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M. Rashiduzzaman Millat has described the FY2026-27 national budget as a strong reflection of the government's commitment to transforming Bangladesh into a modern aviation and tourism destination. Welcoming the budget's focus on aviation and tourism, the state minister said the sectors are not only drivers of economic growth but also shape the world's perception of Bangladesh. "The first impression of Bangladesh for millions of international visitors begins at our airports and continues through their travel experiences across the country," he told Aviation Express. Millat termed the upcoming launch of the Third Terminal at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport a historic milestone, saying it would significantly enhance passenger services and strengthen Bangladesh's position in the global aviation network. He also highlighted the government's plan to expand Biman Bangladesh Airlines' fleet and improve air connectivity to facilitate trade, cargo movement and tourism growth. Reaffirming the government's ambition to establish Bangladesh as a regional aviation hub, the state minister said enhanced connectivity, modern infrastructure and a vibrant tourism sector would unlock new opportunities for investment, employment and international cooperation. "The budget is not merely about allocations; it is a declaration of our ambition to build a globally connected and tourism-friendly Bangladesh," he added.
