CAAB mourns passing of aviation minister’s mother

Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) expressed sorrow over the passing of Hurun Nahar Rashid, mother of Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam Rita MP, who departed early Sunday morning at Ever Care Hospital in Dhaka.
CAAB Public Relations Officer Muhammad Kawsar Mahmud issued official condolence message announcing the loss.
Statement said that Hurun Nahar Rashid breathed her last while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Aviation authority completed all funeral proceedings at Gulshan Azad Mosque before body was transported to Munnu City in Manikganj. Janaza prayer was held at Munnu City, where she was laid to rest in family graveyard beside her husband, former minister Harunur Rashid Khan Munnu.
CAAB’s condolence message included prayers during holy month of Ramadan. “May Almighty Allah forgive all her faults and grant her high status in Jannah. May Allah forgive her during this holy month of Ramadan”, the official statement read.
Aviation authority requested divine mercy and blessings for all family members, praying for strength to bear this irreparable loss. Message emphasised special prayers considering the sacred month.
Minister Afroza Khanam Rita has been leading key aviation initiatives, including recent efforts to expedite third terminal launch at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA). Her mother’s passing during Ramadan adds particular significance to mourning period.
CAAB officials and aviation sector stakeholders are expected to offer condolences to bereaved minister and her family. Authority expressed solidarity with minister during this difficult time, acknowledging her continued dedication to aviation sector despite personal loss.
