State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M. Rashiduzzaman Millat said that the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) will be inaugurated on December 16 or at the beginning of the New Year.

He made the statement on Thursday (April 23) after a meeting with the Prime Minister at the Secretariat.

Mentioning that Japan will be given responsibility for handling the terminal, the state minister said international flights from Cox’s Bazar will be launched within the next two to three months.

He said, “Fourteen Boeing aircraft will be purchased by April 30. The government has also decided to investigate past irregularities and corruption in Biman.”

Referring to several decisions taken by the Prime Minister to make Biman profitable, the state minister said, “The government has taken plans to make the tourism sector more attractive to foreigners. It has also decided to make Cox’s Bazar sea beach and the hill tracts more suitable for international tourists.”
