LATAM Airlines Brazil and Embraer have begun delivering the airline’s first E195-E2 jet, the first of 12 aircraft of the type due by the end of 2026, Embraer said in a statement on 8 October.

The aircraft is expected to enter service in the coming days. It is part of a plan announced in September 2025, when LATAM Airlines Group disclosed it would acquire up to 74 E195-E2s.

Embraer said the airline’s domestic network has grown from 44 airports six years ago to 63 today.

LATAM Airlines Brazil CEO Jerome Cadier said the aircraft would help “continue expanding LATAM’s presence in Brazil sustainably.” He said the airline could pass 70 airports served in Brazil as early as 2027.

Embraer CEO Francisco Gomes Neto said the aircraft would play an important role in LATAM’s connectivity strategy, combining efficiency, operational flexibility, and comfort.

LATAM’s first E195-E2s will start flying between November 2026 and March 2027, according to Embraer. In the first phase, the initial 14 aircraft will operate 42 routes, including eight new routes and four new destinations: Cabo Frio and Macaé in Rio de Janeiro state, Ji-Paraná in Rondônia, and Rondonópolis in Mato Grosso. The airline is also assessing up to 18 more new destinations for 2027, when a further 12 E195-E2s are due for delivery.

Before entering service, the aircraft must complete customs procedures and cabin interior approval and certification by Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC). Embraer said LATAM expects to finish certification about one year after announcing the acquisition. It credited joint work by the airline and the manufacturer, as well as the use of an Embraer demonstration aircraft, known as “Profit Hunter,” for evacuation tests, evaluation flights, and crew training. This roughly halved the time needed for those steps, the company said.

The jets will seat 136 passengers in a 2-2 layout with no middle seats, with up to 20 seats in Premium Economy. Features include USB-C ports at every seat, free Wi-Fi for registered LATAM Pass members, and access to the LATAM Play entertainment platform.

Embraer describes the E195-E2 as the largest aircraft in its E2 family. The manufacturer says it burns up to 30 percent less fuel than first-generation E-Jets and has a range of 3,000 nautical miles (5,556 km). Embraer says the E-Jets and E2 jets combined have passed 2,000 deliveries and fly with more than 80 airlines in 50 countries.
