Le Méridien Dhaka has appointed Gregor Schmidt-Kiefer as its new general manager, the hotel said in a press release. The hotel is a Marriott International property.

Schmidt-Kiefer has more than two decades of experience in luxury hospitality, with senior posts in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, according to the hotel. His background covers hotel operations, commercial performance, and guest experience.

He most recently served as hospitality director at Wirefox Hospitality Ltd, overseeing a portfolio of boutique hotels in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Before that, he was general manager of the Marriott Karachi Hotel and area general manager of the O’Callaghan Collection in Dublin.

In his new role, he will oversee the hotel’s commercial and operational performance. The hotel said he would also work to strengthen its position as a premier luxury lifestyle destination in Dhaka.

Schmidt-Kiefer is moving to Bangladesh from Ireland. “Bangladesh is a country filled with possibilities,” he said in the release. He said he was inspired by the way the country’s tourism landscape continues to evolve and that Le Méridien Dhaka was well positioned with the brand’s European spirit and passion for discovery.

He said he looked forward to joining the team and creating experiences that help guests see the destination from a new perspective.
