Malaysia Airlines has signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with Indian firms PayU, Times Black and Jio Network to broaden its reach among Indian consumers, the airline said Monday.

The airline said the agreements were announced alongside its annual India Trade Gala Dinner, held in Mumbai on Oct 8, according to a press release from its parent, Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG). The event honoured leading travel trade partners through its Top Agents Awards and was used to share priorities for the coming year.

MAG described PayU as a leading digital payments and financial services provider, Times Black as a premium lifestyle and experiences platform, and Jio Network as a leading digital and media network in India. The MoUs will explore opportunities in digital payments, premium lifestyle engagement and digital media outreach, the release said. It gave no financial terms or timelines.

Malaysia Airlines currently operates 80 weekly flights to 10 Indian cities, linking them through its Kuala Lumpur hub to destinations in Malaysia and the wider Asia-Pacific region. In the first half of 2026, it carried close to one million passengers between India and Malaysia, up 10% from a year earlier, MAG said. It said demand came from both leisure and premium travel segments.

Captain Nasaruddin A. Bakar, MAG’s President and Group Chief Executive Officer, said India is an important market, both for point-to-point demand and for opportunities through the Kuala Lumpur hub. “Our travel trade partners are central to how we reach and serve this market,” he said. He added that the new collaborations bring together strengths in payments, lifestyle and digital platforms, and support the airline’s ambition to become a preferred partner for travellers from India.

MAG said the airline will also continue to support Visit Malaysia 2026, the national tourism campaign, by encouraging more Indian travellers to visit Malaysia.

The figures and details are as stated in MAG’s press release and have not been independently verified.
