Prime Minister (PM) Tarique Rahman chaired a high-level meeting on Sunday regarding the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, marking a significant step in expanding Bangladesh's aviation infrastructure.
On Sunday, meeting took place at 12 noon in Prime Minister's special conference room at Cabinet Division in Secretariat. BNP’s media cell confirmed it through their official Facebook page.
Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury attended the session alongside Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam Rita and State Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat. Chief Secretary to Prime Minister ABM Abdus Sattar was also present at the meeting.
Third terminal project aims to enhance passenger handling capacity at country’s busiest airport. Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport currently operates two terminals serving millions of passengers annually. Expansion comes as Bangladesh witnesses growing international travel demand and increasing航空 connectivity.
BNP-led government has prioritised aviation sector development as part of broader infrastructure modernisation efforts. New terminal is expected to accommodate rising passenger traffic and improve service standards at Dhaka’s main gateway.
Prime Minister's direct involvement signals government’s commitment to advancing the project. Aviation industry stakeholders have long called for expanded infrastructure to meet growing demand and maintain regional competitiveness.
Third terminal development aligns with country’s goals to position itself as a regional aviation hub. Project will create employment opportunities and boost tourism sector growth while enhancing international connectivity for business and leisure travellers.
