Tourism Malaysia disowns "Uniquely Malaysia" social media pages

Tourism Malaysia has issued a public clarification stating that the social media account "Uniquely Malaysia" is not an official Tourism Malaysia platform and has no affiliation with the national tourism board, according to a notice released by the agency's Corporate Communications Division on September 4.

The statement said "Uniquely Malaysia" is "not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or officially connected to Tourism Malaysia," and that any content, information or promotions published through the account are produced independently.

"Any content, information, promotions, or communications published through 'Uniquely Malaysia' are independently produced and do not represent or reflect Tourism Malaysia's official stance or opinion," the agency said.

Tourism Malaysia added that it disclaims liability for any inaccurate information circulated across social media platforms operated under the "Uniquely Malaysia" name.

The board did not specify in the notice what prompted the clarification, nor did it provide further details on the ownership or reach of the "Uniquely Malaysia" accounts.

Tourism Malaysia urged members of the public to rely on its official social media channels and platforms for verified tourism information, announcements, campaigns and updates, saying the clarification was issued "to avoid any misunderstanding regarding the relationship between Tourism Malaysia and the 'Uniquely Malaysia' social media accounts."

The notice was signed by the Corporate Communications Division of Tourism Malaysia and dated September 4, 2026.
