Admiral Steve Koehler, Commander of the US Pacific Fleet, will arrive in Dhaka tomorrow on a three-day official visit aimed at further strengthening the longstanding defence partnership between Bangladesh and the United States.
According to a statement issued by the US Embassy in Dhaka today, Admiral Koehler will be in Bangladesh from August 4 to 6.
During the visit, the US Pacific Fleet commander is scheduled to hold meetings with senior Bangladeshi officials to discuss bilateral defence cooperation and explore opportunities to deepen collaboration in maritime security, humanitarian assistance, disaster response and professional military education.
The embassy said the visit reflects the continued engagement between Bangladesh and the United States in promoting regional security and expanding cooperation in areas of shared strategic interest.
Admiral Koehler commands the US Pacific Fleet, one of the world's largest naval forces, responsible for safeguarding US interests and supporting security and stability across the Indo-Pacific region.
The visit comes amid growing engagement between Dhaka and Washington, with both countries recently reaffirming their commitment to strengthening cooperation across political, economic, security and humanitarian sectors.
