Sheikh Faisal Nouman, the longtime muazzin of Masjid an-Nabawi in Medina, passed away on Tuesday. His funeral prayer was held inside the holy mosque after the Fajr prayer on 23 December. Many stood in silence, hearts full, as prayers were offered for him.

After that, he was laid to rest at the old Baqi Al-Gharqad cemetery. The news was shared by Inside the Haramain, a Saudi-based platform that follows the Two Holy Mosques. They confirmed it through their social media posts. The message spread quickly, and sadness followed it everywhere.

For many years, Sheikh Faisal Nouman served the mosque with care and humility. His voice was gentle, steady, and full of feeling. When he called for prayer, people paused. Some closed their eyes. Some felt calm return to their hearts. His Adhan was not loud in pride, but strong in faith.

With his passing, the Muslim Ummah feels a real loss. Religious scholars, worshippers, and ordinary believers from many countries shared their grief. They prayed for his forgiveness and for peace in his grave. Many said they felt as if they had lost someone they knew, even if they had never met him.

Masjid an-Nabawi, built by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), is the second holiest place in Islam after Masjid al-Haram in Mecca. Millions visit it every year. They come to pray. They come to stand near the Prophet’s resting place. And for years, they heard the same voice calling them to prayer.

That voice became part of their memory of Medina. Five times a day, it rose above the courtyard and the streets nearby. Now, that sound is gone. The mosque remains, the prayers continue, but something feels different. Sheikh Faisal Nouman may have left this world, but his Adhan still lives quietly in the hearts of those who heard it.
