The US Embassy in Dhaka today reminded visa holders that foreign visitors who use Medicaid or other government assistance to pay for medical care in the United States may be violating the terms of their visas.
In a notice posted on its verified Facebook page, the embassy said that reliance on US public benefits, including Medicaid, could affect eligibility for future travel to the United States.
“Foreign visitors who use government assistance to pay for their medical care in the United States are abusing the terms of their visas,” the notice stated, adding that such costs are ultimately borne by American taxpayers.
The embassy warned that individuals found to have abused or relied on public benefits may be deemed ineligible for future entry into the country.
